Look familiar? You may have seen this fort on the back of the 1,000-dirham note. Originally an 18^th-century watchtower, the structure was expanded into a royal residence. The watchtower itself remains the oldest standing structure in Abu Dhabi. As for the rest of the facility, it’s now an exhibition space for artefacts, photographs and other historical objects related to Abu Dhabi.
